Richmond, knowing what exercises to do and what foods to consume are the cornerstones for being successful in reaching your fitness goals.  However, the overriding concept that must be kept in mind to make these tasks do their thing is….CONSISTENCY!

You can have a great personal trainer, a finely tuned exercise plan, access to great workout equipment/facilities and be extremely knowledgeable about your nutrition but,  none of this matters if you don’t remain consistent in implementing these tools.  In the 10 years that I have been in the wellness industry, this is by far the biggest pitfall for clients not achieving their fitness goals, getting frustrated and quitting altogether. Richmond, Why Exercise?

Ever wonder what the “big deal” is about exercise?

As someone who has experienced the benefits of a consistent exercise routine for over thirty years, I feel it is my duty to share what this “big deal” is all about.  After all, this lifestyle change I made is responsible for shaping  my career as a Richmond wellness professional as well as many other positive benefits I had no idea would transpire.

Aside from the obvious physical changes that take place as a result of  a regular exercise regimen, you become the beneficiary of numerous clinical and psychological changes that impact  your life in ways you never would imagine.   Clinical changes such as: lower blood pressure, reduction in resting blood pressure, increased metabolism, advantageous changes in cholesterol and reduced risk of injury and disease  are just a few.  In addition, psychological benefits such as: decreased stress, improved self-esteem, more energy, more self-confidence and an overall improved “quality of life” were an additional surprise to this exercise “big deal.”   I refer to all of these benefits/changes as the “intangibles,” you can’t see them but you know they’re happening and, “it’s all good.”  When I first began my exercise journey, I had no idea these types of things would take place and more importantly how my entire life would change for the better.  Better family life, better career  and enjoying life better than before……all, as a result of starting and maintaining a  consistent exercise routine.

As you can see, this exercise thing is a “big deal” and can provide the same benefits I have enjoyed for over 30 years.  It’s worth your time and effort and once you begin feeling the immediate impact it will have on your life you will wonder why it took you so long to get started.  Instead of the question being “Why Exercise?” the question should be “Why Not, Richmond ?”

My name is Ike Pethtel. I’m the owner and Fitness Director of Fit by Ike Personal Training in Richmond, Virginia. I am a Certified Personal Trainer, Post-Secondary Rehabilitation Specialist and Sports Nutrition Specialist with the nationally recognized International Fitness Professionals Association.

Personal training is my second career. I became a personal trainer at age fifty after a twenty year career in the communications industry.
